The plot has many red herrings and surprises that are shocking and oddly endearing. Christian knows that Dobroslav doesn't accept failure and is terrified about what will happen to him, Grayson, and Nick and how he will get them all out of danger. Their first attempt fails, but their second is successful, yet their efforts to obtain the information are not. What he doesn't have in enhancements, he makes up for with his brainpower. Even so, Christian keeps up with Chaos and the rest of the assault team. During the mission, Chaos, Dobroslav's main enforcer, harasses Christian about his inferiority since he was the prototype of the group of enhanced assassins his grandfather invented. The Formicary forces Christian to join their force of supersoldiers on missions as they track down the scientist who, with Christian’s help, stole the programs they need. They still subject Christian to diagnostics, checking his enhancements to ensure they continue to operate at maximum capacity, but that's all Christian will allow.

Christian has promised Grayson that he will not allow them to add further enhancements to the superhuman ones he already has, but it will be difficult to avoid. Christian knows he is only a means to an end, not someone his grandfather cares about.

Dobroslav wants to use Christian's training to help him get back important information that Christian, since he suffers from amnesia, doesn't remember.Ī lot has changed since Christian was there last, but many things are the same, particularly his grandfather's cruelty and vengefulness.
